What's the good word, friends? It's time for your weekly dose of talking and music compliments of the Full Metal Hipster podcast! On this week's episode I spoke with Lisa, Michael and Brian of Seattle's He Whose Ox Is Gored (Facebook). The band released their debut LP called The Camel, The Lion, The Child last year, and it's a doozy. In fact, it's one of 2015's best albums according to me and objective reality. Anyway, we had a nice chat and I'm happy to share it with you today. Happy listening!

If you’re an iTunes user, don’t forget to subscribe to Full Metal Hipster, and leave me some good reviews/5 star ratings for God’s sake! If you’re not an Apple fanboy, you can stream or download each episode from my website FullMetalHipster.com, my Stitcher page, or on the podcast host site.

I’m on Twitter at @MetalShayne2000 and Facebook, too, ya bums!

Welcome to yet another installment of Full Metal Hipster. On this episode I speak with Josh Thieler. The singer and drummer for Pittsburgh's Slaves BC (Facebook). Slaves BC's new album, All Is Dust and I Am Nothing comes out on February 16th and I spoke to Josh about the band's new music and covering nu-metal songs. I've also got two tracks from the album for you during the episode. This is a great album that I think is really going to appeal to fans of nasty sludge and hardcore. Perk them ears up, folks!

Greeting, friends, I hope the day finds you well! On this week's episode of Full Metal Hipster I played some music from a Pennsylvania metal band called Geneverse (Facebook) who recently reached out to me via email. I also spoke to Melynda and Haley from Eight Bells (Facebook) about the band's upcoming sophomore release Landless. You'll also get to hear a couple new songs from the album, too. Strap in, folks, this is a good 'un!

Welcome back, everyone! After a brief absence due to vacation and sickness, Full Metal Hipster is back to ring in the new year with the 30th episode! Today you get to hear an extended conversation with Paul from Twilight Fauna (@TwilightFauna) that I recorded while writing this article for Noisey. I wound up with roughly 45 minutes of unused material and it's a shame to let it sit on my hard drive collecting dust. So here it is for your listening pleasure!

It's the end of the year which means it's Best Of list season! That special time when music writers spend an inordinate amount of time ranking albums so that readers can skim the list and then bitch that whatever mediocre album they love wasn't included. I invited fellow heavy metal writer Jonathan Wilson (@CelticFrosty) onto the show to talk about our respective top 15 for your listening pleasure. We cover some great records so take notes and drop some of that sweet Christmas moolah on new music!

Episode #28 of Full Metal Hipster is a doozy, folks! On this episode I speak with a legit heavy metal creative visionary - Devin Townsend! BOOOOOOOOSH!!! Sorry, I'll get control of myself. I talked with Devin about the upcoming re-release of 2014's Casualties of Cool - an album of spacey Americana music that also happens to be one of my favorite Heavy Deavy projects to date. Also, I air out some music that's landed in my inbox from a trans woman in the UK who records under the name Earthen Shrine. This is a packed episode, fam. Get excited!

When I first heard about Curezum, the metal band that covers songs from The Cure, I was as skeptical as some of you probably are right now. But upon hearing the band's retooling of "100 Days" I instantly became a convert. Curezum go beyond the lazy rerecordings of existing songs so many bands crank out, and create fresh versions of the source material that are still recognizable. I recently talked to Mort and Billy from the band about noise, exploding whales, and goregrind. Oh yeah, and their music. I hope you enjoy the interview!

October is here and, to celebrate what's surely a lot of headbangers' favorite time of the year, I'm delving into the stygian depths of Lovecraftian heavy metal. Horror/sci-fi writer Howard Phillips Lovecraft has been a huge influence on metal musicians from the very beginning of the genre's history, and I'm dredging up some of the best examples of contemporary metal bands that mine Lovecraft's work for inspiration. Dim the lights, light some candles, and enjoy!

On this (mini) episode of Full Metal Hipster I'm trying something a bit different. Instead of an interview or an episode built around a theme, I'm reviewing a single album. I'll be taking a listen to Hibria's latest, self-titled release out now on Test Your Metal Records. Did I like it? Is it crappy garbage? You'll have to listen and see!

On this episode of Full Metal Hipster I spoke to Brandon Duncan (@expiringsun). Brandon is an artist and musician who's released music under the name The Sequence of Prime and, most recently, Sterilizer. He also produces and sells cassette releases for underground industrial acts from all over the world on his website ExpiringSun.com. Brandon's a solid dude and I really enjoyed talking to him about music, cats, and Creationism despite a few technical difficulties. Also, I apologize for the amount of mic pops in this episode. That's a bush league mistake, I know.

Greetings all you wonderful Full Metal Hipster listeners! I hope the day finds you well. Here's this week's new episode to introduce a little bit of happines into your otherwise miserable existence. Unfortunately, I don't have an interview for you this week. Instead I'm spotlighting heavy metal from my homeland of Ohio. I'm sure you're not thinking to yourself, "Oh yeah, the Buckeye state is ripe with killer heavy metal" because that's not the case. But, when you start digging around, there are definitely some good bands to be found. So sit back with a giant plate of Cincinnatti-style chili and an Ale-8-One and enjoy!

On this, the most recent yarn from the Hipster Whose Metal Be Full, I speak with Brittney Slayes (@BrittneyPotPie), a battle bard from the cold northern land of Canada. Brittney is the singer in a band of seasoned adventurers known far and wide as Unleash the Archers (@UnleashArchers)! You'll also be privy to heavy metal songs of power from the Minnesotan warlords Noble Beast as well as Brazil's Hibria (@Hibria). Oh, hi there folks! Thanks for checking out episode 11 of Full Metal Hipster. This episode I speak with Ed (@ourcityburning) from the Black Metal of the Americas zine. He's a swell guy. You might notice that it periodically sounds like we're interuppting each other or waiting too long to reply to seemingly simple questions. I assure you neither scenario is the case. The software I use to record Skype calls blows and messes up the audio syncing. Hopefully I've got the problem remedied for future episodes, though. Never mind all that, though. You came for the music and chatter, so let's get started!
